It’s that time of year again! The best time of the year! The Holiday season in Austin is truly magical. I’ve complied a list of our favorite things. The traditions you just can’t skip out on.
Our family has gone to the Trail of Lights every single year! Walking through Zilker Park with a hot chocolate and seeing the magic of Christmas lights in your kiddos eyes is just unbeatable. The big tip that I can give with taking kids is to buy the zip pass! It is worth every penny. Your kids get to run around without the chaotic crowds and you get to relax and take your time. Before we walk over, we eat at Shady Grove and it is the most kid friendly restaurant! We have done this dinner and walk over to the lights for an entire decade now and we won’t stop any time soon.
*Trail of Lights is from December 10th to the 23rd

This was actually our first year going to Mozarts! If sipping hot coffee and watching a light show sounds like heaven, then this is the tradition for you! The Mozarts Light Show is such a stunning night. Make sure to come early for parking and to get the best seat, but once you’ve done that, sit back, relax, and let the magic begin.
*Mozarts Light Show runs from November 21- January 5th from 6pm – 11pm

This is a tradition that I have felt is a best kept secret of mine. The Bass Pro Shop Santa is truly the most beautiful Santa. Forget that fake bearded mall Santa. Seriously, forget him. This Santa not only has the most stunning backdrop with reindeers to boot, but you also get a free picture. Free! Oh, and is your kid being crazy and super mad at you for making you sit on a strangers lap? No worries. They’ve got craft and toys to distract them. It really is the best Santa experience in Austin. This is our photo from last year. Mo was not having it.
*Bass Pro Santa will be there from November 16- December 24th

After all of these traditions it hits you. You haven’t sent out a Christmas card. You don’t even have the photos to add to a Christmas card even if you wanted to send one out. Well have no fear, the Flower Vault has your back! Located in the Domain for the season and the cutest holiday backdrops of all time. Bring your big camera or your phone and snap away!
*Open now until December 29th

Ballet Austin puts on The Nutcracker every year and it is the most beautifully done show. We started taking Millie when she was three and she has always done great! It’s entertaining for kiddos and the perfect length. Before we go see the show we go eat at El Alma for a nice lunch and it has never disappointed. This is the one day that I will curl Millies hair, put lipgloss on her, let her drink a lemonade out of a big glass, and put on the fanciest dress we can find. She feels like the biggest kid. It’s one of my absolute favorite Christmas traditions!

I hope this list of our traditions helps to make your Austin Christmas the most magical holiday season of all!
